Hair Perfect

Have you tried the new Herbal Essences line? I usually go for salon brands but was encouraged to try the revamped Clairol products.

I was a little nervous as I haven’t had many good experiences with drugstore type brands – they usually dry my hair out, but thought I’d give them a go. I have been using the ‘Totally Twisted’ shampoo and conditioner for curls and wavy hair. It smells so good - french lavender, which is one of my favourite scents. My curls are defined and not frizzy. My hair feels soft and looks shiny.

I decided to try another collection from the group and just purchased the ‘Color Me Happy’ for colour treated hair. This one smells very fruity and says that it has a fusion of acai berries and satin extracts. I find that using these products is quite relaxing in the shower, as the scents are almost therapeutic. The 'Color Me Happy' products are excellent too and my hair is looking great.

The old Herbal Essences had 13 different shampoos, 13 conditioners and 16 styling products – a little confusing! The new Herbal Essences focus on finding the ‘collection’ to suit your hair type and needs. If you go to their website and answer 5 simple questions, a shampoo, conditioner and corresponding styling product will be recommended for you.

In total there are 9 collections:
Body Envy – Full & Voluminzed
Break’s Over – Strong & Healthy
Color Me Happy – Bright & Radiant
Dangerously Straight – Straight & Sleek
Drama Clean – Fresh & Clean
Hello Hydration – Hydrated & Silky
None of your Frizziness – Frizz Controlled & Smooth
Set Me Up - To hold its look with shine
Totally Twisted – Curly & Manageable

When you visit the website, check out all the helpful information and tips they have. Styling videos, hot hair trends and even hairdresser lingo are some of the items you will find here.

At $3.99 for each product, you can't go wrong with even just trying it.

Pure & Petal Hair Fragrances

Elizabeth Pyshnov of Montreal, Canada, has developed four fresh fragrances that are specifically for the hair.

Elizabeth says “I wanted my hair to smell freshly-washed between showers. I tried to use eau de parfum on my hair, but not only was I worried that the alcohol would dry my hair, I also found that traditional eau de parfum and eau de toilette were too heavy and overwhelming when used on hair”.

Pure & Petal launched in November of this year and will provide you with silky feeling, fresh-out-of-the-shower smelling hair, all day long. With silk protein and provitamin B5, these products won’t cause frizziness or dry your hair out.

If you are like me and hate having to wash your hair every day, just to keep it smelling great, using a hair fragrance can allow you to skip a day or two of washing and styling, while still keeping your hair fresh. Another great feature is that these fragrances are so light that you can wear them and your favourite perfume, without them competing against each other.

I can honestly say that I like all four of the fragrances - which is unusual for me as I am so fussy. What I like is that they really are fresh, light and not sweet nor sickly smelling. I think my favourite is Heavenly Clean and my husband likes Summer Passion.

The four fragrances are:
Sublime Citrus
An uplifting citrus fragrance made with sweet orange and pink grapefruit essential oils
Heavenly Clean
A clean, bright fragrance with notes of freshly-washed laundry mingling with fruity-floral notes
Linden Blossom
A sophisticated, feminine fragrance with notes of linden flowers and a splash of grapefruit essential oil
Summer Passion
A sweet, seductive infusion of fruity notes.

Bésame Enriched Lip Glaze

Bésame recently added a new product to their timeless cosmetic line - The Enriched Lip Glaze.

This sweet smelling, creamy gloss is enriched with vitamins A, C, E and green tea extract to keep lips kissably soft for hours. Other ingredients contained in this luxurious glaze are, anti-aging marine collagen to promote lip shape and fullness, aloe vera, macadamia nut extract, sweet almond oil and squalene.

What is squalene? I didn't know so I did a little research...

Squalene has several beneficial qualities for the body. One such benefit is that it assists in keeping skin moisturized and healthy and its anti-oxidant capabilities help to protect skin from the harsh effects of the environment. It is widely found in natural products such as - olives, palm oil and wheat germ oil. However, the largest concentration of Squalene is from deep sea Shark liver oil. Who knew?!

The Enriched Lip Glaze is available in 6 pretty colours that can be worn alone or over your favourite lipstick.

Bésame cosmetics can be found in several boutiques around the USA. For a full listing visit www.besamecosmetics.com

AVEDA Spring/Summer 2007

I know that it is still winter and we have not even got to Christmas, but I wanted to share with you the Aveda Spring/Summer cosmetic collection that will be coming out in February.

Aveda have developed three spring colour palettes that capture the beauty trends from New York's Fashion Week.

ZEN BLOOMS
With citrus green for eyes, sugary pinks for cheeks and lips, Zen Blooms look is "fresh and flirty".

- Sundew/Watercress Triple Accent*—a soft, satin rose for lips and cheeks paired with a fresh, citrus lime for eyes.
- Jamberry Lip Glaze*—a sweet glaze of pastel berries.
- Plum Fresco Petal Essence Face Accent—shimmering fuchsia lit with gold.
- Moonstone Shimmer Accent—a liquid shimmer of pearlized pink.

SPANISH SUN
This palette offers a tango of fiery bronzes.

- Coco Plum Lip Tint SPF 15*—a spicy hint of chocolate raspberry.
- Tangelo/Pantana Petal Essence Eye Color Duo*—a seductive duet of tropical salmon and rich cocoa.
- Moss Eye Definer—a deep, exotic, moss green.
- Papaye Lip Glaze*—a glaze of melted, golden copper.
- Bronze Patina Cheek Tint—a sun-drenched bronze glow.

MOROCCAN MIST
Sheer watercolors of a Moroccan dawn. Moroccan Mist is about delicate colours that are a little bit mysterious.

- Juneberry Lip Shine*—a delicate silk of pink mocha.
- Rose Swirl Lip Tint—desert gold swirled with mysterious plum-berry.
