Is Lipstick Lethal?

Ok this is scary. I just came across this on YAHOO this morning:

The Campaign for Safe Cosmetics said tests on 33 brand-name red lipsticks by the Bodycote Testing Group in Santa Fe Spring, California, found that 61 percent had detectable lead levels of 0.03 to 0.65 parts per million (ppm).

Take a peep and tell me what you think. Are you worried? Will this stop you using lipstick?

I don't think that this will be an issue for me. I rarely wear lipstick (I'm more of a gloss girl), but even so, they noted that we really shouldn't be concerned unless we were pregnant or had kids in the household, which I don't. For those that do, I'd just be more careful to put lipsticks away and out of reach. This shouldn't hinder all those beautiful ladies out there from their favorite lipsticks! :)

Thanks so much for sharing!

i subscribe to the emails for campaign for safe cosmetics and i love all the information they provide. i take it seriously as well. i am not a huge lipstick person, im all about gloss as well, but i think this should be a real eye opener. i appreciate that they provide details about the brands and the colors with the lead in the lipsticks; if i owned any of those, they'd be in the garbage.
i think lead in lipsticks is something to be strongly concerned about and i hope a strong message is sent to cosmetics companies to use safe ingredients because it can be done.

thank you for posting this info on lipstick, power n' paint! :)
